Boy’s Cornwall Apparatus & Floor and Vault 2014

Congratulations to our three wonderful gymnasts for their successes at the recent Cornwall Apparatus and Floor & Vault events.

Under 7 – Floor and Vault Champion and Apparatus Champion – ASHTON WATSON

Ashton also took Gold medals on 5 pieces of apparatus and a Silver on Rings.

Under 10 – Floor and Vault Champion and Apparatus Champion – JOE MITCHELL

Joe also took 6 Gold medals on all apparatus.

Under 10 – Floor & Vault Silver medallist and Apparatus medallist – LEANDROS PAPASTAVROS

Leandros also took apparatus medals on 5 of the 6 disciplines.

The coaching team are proud of all our competitors and of our amazing Coach, Edy.

Girl’s County Squad gymnasts announced for 2014

Well done to all our girls that took part in the County Squad trial in January.  Unfortunately some gymnasts were not successful on this occassion, but the Coaching Team are all pleased with the efforts that were made in the testing day.

Well done to – Libby Rescorla, Heather Bolton, Maea Morgan, Phoebe Jenkin, Shannon Standing, Megan  Morris, Dana Littlejohns, Autumn-Star Mills, Cara Jackson,  Zara Mitchell, Katie Mayall, Yuki Cornish and Charlotte Fidler for all gaining places for 2014.

We look forward to the first squad session.

South West Men’s Gymnastics Festival 2014

Congratulations to Kai Cornish – Under 14 Gold medallist at last weekend’s Inter Counties Festival.  Kai took the Silber medal on Vault, and the Gold medal on Floor with great performances.  In the Under 10 event Cameron Jenkin took the overall Gold medal on the Floor exercise with just 0.90 of deductions for a great performance.  Cameron was one of just two gymnasts to have received such a small execution penalty, narrowly missing out on the Mike Euridge Cup due to a lower start value!  Cmeron was place in overall 5th position after his Vault.

In Sunday’s competition Cameron Jenkin was again on the medal podium with a well deserved Silver on the Floor exercise with, once again just 0.90 of deductions!

In the Under 12 event, there were no individual apparatus medals, but some new moves tried and tested by all competitors.

And finally, in the Under 14 competition, Calum Walklett took Silver medals on both Vault and Pommel with great improvements on Start Value, including a new vault to compeition.  And also a Bronze medal on P Bars.  Cameron Wheat took Bronze on Rings.

The Under 14 Team comprising of Matt Bolton, Matthe Heaney, Elliot Bullen, Cameron Wheat and Calum Walklett took the overall Team Bronze medal.The Swallows were ranked overall 5th Club in the region after totalling all the scores from the weekend’s competition.  Well done to all our boys for all their efforts – Cameron Jenkin, Elliot Bullen, Matt Bolton, Matthew Heaney, Calum Walklett, Kai Cornish, Cameron Wheat and Jake Hubbard.

Level 6 Floor & Vault 2014

Well done to all our girls who took part in the Level 6 Floor and Vault competition in Callywith on Sunday 2nd February.

Level 6 (7 yrs) – 1st on Vault – Thea Bolton and 3rd on Vault – Darcey Laurence.  1st on Floor – Darcey Laurence and 3rd on Floor – Thea Bolton.

Overall Champion – Darcey with Bronze medal – Thea Bolton. (8 gymnasts in the competition)

Level 6 – (8yrs) – Morwenna Holbrook – 2nd on Floor.  Scarlett Thompson – 3rd on Vault

Overall Bronze medal – Morwenna Holbrook, 4th – Olivia Morris, 5th – Jasmine Forwood and 6th – Scarlett Thompson.  (25 gymnasts in the competition)

Level 6 – (9yrs) – Stella Laws and Lilia Rowe = 3rd on Vault.  Lilia Rowe = 2nd on Floor and Zena Jackson 3rd on Floor.

Lila Rowe – overall Silver medal, Stella Laws 5th, Holly Kemp 7th, Jessica Caves 8th, Zena Jackson 10th, Sophie McCartney 16th and Alaia Wilson 18th.  (39 gymnasts in the competition)

Level 6 – (10yrs) – Josie Martin 1st on Vault, Kaitlyn Standing =2nd on Vault.  Kaitlyn Standing 1st on Floor.

Overall Champion – Kaitlyn Standing, Joise Martin 5th, Dora Revell 6th and Stacely-Leigh Carter 16th.  (28 gymnasts in the competition)

8 years Team Silver medallists – Morwenna Holbrook, Olivia Morris, Jasmine Forwood and Scarlett Thompson (65.150)

9 years Team Champions – Lilia Rowe, Stella Laws and Holly Kemp (63.070) and 4th place Zena Jackson, Jessica Caves, Sophie McCarteny & Alaia Wilson (61.290)

10 years Team Champions – Kaitlyn Standing, Josie Martin, Dora Revell and Stacey-Leigh Carter (65.700)
