Classes
Mini Tots This is where our youngest members have their first experience of gymnastics. The class is designed for children aged between 6 months and 18 months, with sessions lasting 45 minutes. Both adults and children alike enjoy this session, and the introduction of soft play equipment makes for an ideal safe environment in which these young, budding gymnasts can investigate their physical potential.

 Mini Tots Tots
The Parents and Toddler class caters for children between 18 months and 3 years of age. Sessions begin with both adults and children participating in a musical warm up, various exercises and then it is time to enjoy the challenges of the soft play equipment before finishing with hand apparatus and songs.

Pre-School

Is a range of progressive gym classes which cater for children of all abilities between the ages of 3 and 6 years. These are the first classes where the children will be taking part in a structured gymnastic session without being accompanied by an adult. Swallows Coaches lead the children throughout these classes and help them to learn new skills through use of a wider range of equipment.

 Schools programmes Schools Programmes
This program is designed to deliver the National Curriculum to children of Primary school age. As we live in a rural area, most primary school have 2/3 teachers, many of these schools do not have adequate space or expertise to deliver the sport and physical education as set out in the national curriculum. With our coaches we go out to the schools with a programme which delivers a planned gymnastic experience and we can also support this with schemes of work. We offer a 5 week program during which time they are able to benefit from the use of specialised equipment under the guidance of qualified coaches. In the final session the school pupils can come to the gym.
We can accommodate up to 60 children in these hour long sessions which in some cases is the whole school!
As transport costs are very high this is a very cost effective solution for local primary schools.
Special Needs
Swallows offer specialised classes for children and adults who have varying degrees of physical and mental disabilities. We are able to recognise and develop the abilities of each individual, thereby reducing the focus of their disability. Where possible these gymnasts are integrated with the main program, taking part in normal recreational sessions with coaching provided on a one to one basis. As well as this aspect of the main programme the club will cater for any organisation that deals with children with disabilities.

  Recreational
Swallows offer various recreational classes for both boys and girls. These classes are for school age children with a wide range of abilities and combines fitness with fun. The basic skills are taught by Swallows Coaches and are rewarded with British Gymnastics Badges and various other in-house awards. Recreational gymnastic sessions provide a good grounding for other sporting activities and are run after school and on Saturday mornings.
Adults
Because many parents of gymnasts show an interest in the sport, the adult gym and fitness training is increasing in popularity. This has more emphasis on the health and fitness benefits of gymnastics and is done after the hours of normal children's gymnastics.
Adults pay on the night. Numbers are increasing, we are looking to provide a second evening session.

 Display team Display Team
Swallows have an active display team who partake in various gymnastic performances around the peninsula. Most displays are performed during the months of June and July. The team is made up from competitive gymnasts and help to promote both the club and the sport in the local community.
If you are interested in having Swallows Gymnastics Display Team put on a performance at your event, please contact us.
Competition Level
Competition gymnastics can be sub-divided into three levels:-
Novice Gymnasts
These children are recognised by the Coaches as having some gymnastic potential and wish to participate in friendly county competition. This is the first rung of the competitive ladder and involves the gymnasts committing to between 1.5 and 4 hours per week in training time.
Intermediate Gymnasts
These gymnasts have progressed through Novice level and have sufficiently improved their gymnastic skills to now compete at Intermediate level. The increase in skill levels brings with it an increase in training hours and they can be expected to attend the gym for between 4 and 9 hours per week.
County/Regional Gymnasts
Gymnasts who reach this level are dedicated to their sport and have the talent and ability to compete with the best from other Counties/Regions. Gymnasts at this level are expected to commit up to 15 hours per week to their training.
