Swallows of Helston is a gymnastics club with approximately 600 members, attending weekly. Founded in 1976, the Swallows operated out of the local youth club and Helston Comprehensive School. In 1991 the club transferred to it's current premises at the Water-Ma-Trout Industrial Estate, since when it has grown from just under 100 members to it's current size.

The Swallows became a registered charity in 1994 and is run by an Executive Committee of trustees, currently consisting of the following members:- In September 2002 the Club became a Limited Company with charitable status.

Volunteers and Volunteer Coaches

Swallows have a number of qualified coaches trained to British Gymnastics standards, who are led by our Head Coach Donna Thomas. We have one full time High Performance coach & five part time members of coaching staff who are augmented by a number of volunteers, without whom the club could not survive. Coaches are encouraged to obtain qualifications through the British Gymnastics Association, which the club finances. We are always looking for more volunteers to assist in the gym's activities and the club rewards this commitment in a number of ways in addition to promoting in the Volunteers Investment Programme (VIP) scheme.
